Willowglen and the Canadian Heavy Oil Association (CHOA) – The Future SAGD Facility
Willowglen’s Vice President chaired the CHOA Session “The Future SAGD Facility”. The session addressed the many challenges SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) operators face in delivering a successful project in the ever-changing business and socio-economic climate. Issues such as construction costs, manpower, implementation risk, capital limitations, water use, energy use, automation and instrumentation, water and oil quality and diluent use all have a bearing on the SAGD facility design. The panel comprised of Suncor, Devon, Worley Parsons, and Seven Generations Energy explored innovative approaches to facility designs and operations – with the session led off by an overview provided by the Editor of the Oil Sands Review.
