Willowglen Senior Management Team

 

President - Wayne Karpoff

Wayne Karpoff  has over 25 years of corporate experience in the advanced technology sector, and a long track record of building businesses to take technology leadership positions.

Prior to Willowglen, Mr. Karpoff founded YottaYotta Inc. (now part of EMC), developer of advanced distributed storage solutions. Prior to YottaYotta Mr. Karpoff was President of the Canadian super computer company Myrias.

Mr. Karpoff is a founder and member of several technology boards - and serves on many community, academic, government, and industry steering committees. Wayne is a sought-after public speaker on innovation and is an author of over 10 awarded and pending patents. Wayne holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science.

 

Vice President, Corporate Development - Gail Powley, P.Eng

Gail Powley has over 25 years experience in the industrial automation and technology space - guiding the direction of alarm management, regulatory and advanced control, web-based decision support, and situation monitoring technologies which have been deployed in control rooms for companies worldwide.

Leading projects for organizations such as Suncor, Syncrude, Petro-Canada, Exxon-Mobil, Nova Chemicals, Irving Oil, Conoco-Phillips, MEG Energy, and more - Gail has had technical and management level experience with a variety of Control and Enterprise systems. Many of these initiatives included developing partnerships with both technology providers and end-users. By managing risk and ensuring success was achieved by all parties, she has helped build innovative technologies, partnerships, and companies.

While with Matrikon (now owned by Honeywell), Gail founded Matrikon’s Industry Boards of Direction. The result was the development of leading technology solutions for the technology company, and strong business applications and results for the operating companies. Gail is leading Willowglen’s Industry Boards of Direction.

Ms. Powley has served on the executive team of the Washington D.C. based NPRA (National Petrochemical and Refining Association) Process Automation and Decision Support Committee for many years, together with representatives of Exxon-Mobil, Ergon Refining, ConocoPhillips, Suncor, Honeywell, Aspen Technologies and more - to provide leadership in the area of best practices and value of automation. She has served on numerous Industry, Academic, and Government committees and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.

 

Vice President, International Sales - Marty Bince

Marty Bince has 30 years of technical, sales and sales management experience in industrial automation. Prior to Willowglen, Mr. Bince held a leadership role in a large HMI distribution company that offered high volume products, technical support, training and application support.

Mr. Bince has supported partners, customers and their projects in national and international markets, and across a diverse array of industries including: oil & gas, oil sands, electrical generation and transmission, water/wastewater, forestry, pulp & paper, mining and manufacturing. Marty has experience in technical and sales capacities with control equipment, SCADA systems, and maintenance management and enterprise solutions.

Prior to Willowglen, Mr. Bince was an owner and part of the executive team of ISS-Wonderware, a distributor of Wonderware products. Mr. Bince has been an active member of the ISA and IEEE, holding senior leadership roles in local chapters and at the international level.

 

Vice President, Operations - Doug Fisher, P.Eng

Doug Fisher has over 25 years experience in the areas of SCADA solution development, project management, and corporate operations management. Mr. Fisher provides leadership to the technology development, customer support, and manufacturing teams - and has been instrumental to the direction of Willowglen’s products, including the recent versions of the Unisen RTU line, Flow Computers, and SCADACOM and VISTA III host systems.

Mr. Fisher has effectively worked with the heads of his technology departments to build strong, talented and unified teams - dedicated to the vision of technical excellence and outstanding customer support. Doug has led project deployment in the Middle East, Asia, North America, and more - in applications in the Oil & Gas, Pipelines, Transportation, and Water/Wastewater Industries.

Mr. Fisher is a long-time ISA Member, a Professional Engineer, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

 

Chairman of the Board - Peter VanDerZee

Peter Van der Zee is Founder of Willowglen, and has over 40 years of experience in the Industrial Automation Field.

In 1971, Peter, founded Datek Industries (now Willowglen) to supply the electronic needs of the industrial control and measurement market. As president he was responsible for all business aspects, including sales, design and manufacturing. Over the years he grew the business from the single entrepreneur to a global SCADA provider. This growth was achieved by broadening the business base, and by acquisition.

Mr. Van der Zee has been on the executive of over a dozen companies. Peter has served on the board of the Alberta Microelectronics Centre, as well as president and many years as councilor in the Electronic Industry Association of Alberta. He has also served on numerous Government committees, as well as University selection and course content for technical schools.

Mr. Van der Zee holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
